Three Strategies for Overcoming Self-limiting Beliefs

Self-limiting beliefs are a real drag!  At times I know many people are frustrated because they feel they have so much doubt in themselves and in their belief in what they can achieve.

​​​​​​​The worse beliefs you can have are self-limiting beliefs. These exist when you believe yourself to be limited in any way. We are where we are today because of all the beliefs we have had up until today. I'm not talking about the fleeting thoughts that come into our mind and then are gone the next day. I'm talking about the beliefs we dwell on, and compare ourselves to others with. 
 
But you can change those!
 
You may think that others are smarter, funnier or superior to you in some way. Or you may have fallen into selling yourself short or settling for less than you are truly capable of. These self-limiting beliefs act like brakes on your potential...they hold you back. 
 
​​​​​​​They generate the two worst enemies of personal success -- doubt and fear. They paralyze you and cause you to hesitate to take the necessary actions to fulfill your true potential. 
 
Here are three easy-to-implement strategies that you can begin today to start changing the limiting beliefs that hold you back from getting the things you really want.
 
CHANGE THE WORDS YOU SAY TO YOURSELF - You have to be your own best cheerleader through positive declarations. You have to give yourself positive pep talks...how do you do that?
It's basically a two-step process:
1. Stop saying negative words to yourself
2. Start saying positive words to yourself
Ha, ha I know it sounds easy, right? Well, I think the key here is to begin paying attention to the things you DO say to yourself. Then use "I AM" statements consistently and you will start to feel the change.
 
PLAY A VIDEO - a video in your head of how you want the outcome to be. Each time you try something out of your comfort zone, do a presentation or whatever it is you're trying to accomplish, create a video in your head of what you want to happen.  Expect the best to happen! Then play that video over and over again until you believe it! Positive belief is the deliberate decision to focus on the positive aspects. 
 
TAKE ACTION - taking action creates belief.  But the key to developing the discipline to take action is to pick the easiest, least expensive, no-brainer type step, and then consistently build from there. Taking action, no matter how small a step, dissolves fear and builds belief in your ability to take another action! Allow them to compound on themselves. The key is to JUST GET STARTED!
